How much does it cost to teach English abroad?
There are in general three main costs that you’ll need to budget for if you’re planning to teach English abroad. First is for having a TEFL qualification, second, the transportation as well as pre-departure costs and lastly the living expenses for at least the first month after arriving in your destination.
For finding an accommodation, you can rent a flat directly from the landlord or through a licensed real estate agent. The standard deposit in Hong Kong is 2 months’ worth of rent, and 1 month rent in advance. If you hire a real estate agent, you would also pay for the commission of half a month's rent.

Security deposit (2 months worth of rent): HK$16,000
